Definition
A documented adjustment to the raw Megyesi TBS-ADD-PMI estimate to account for identified environmental conditions (climate, soil type, burial, fire, water immersion, scavenging) that shift decomposition rate above or below the Knoxville temperate ARF baseline. Must be reported explicitly with its empirical basis.

Common questions
Why can't the raw Megyesi estimate be used without correction?+
The Megyesi model was built from decomposition data at one geographic site. Conditions like burial, submersion, or scavenging change the rate of tissue breakdown relative to that baseline, so applying the raw ADD-PMI figure outside similar conditions can produce a materially wrong interval unless the deviation is accounted for.
What happens if an examiner applies a correction without citing its empirical basis?+
An uncited adjustment reads as an opinion rather than a scientific estimate, which weakens the finding under cross-examination. The correction should reference published research or documented case data showing how that specific condition shifts decomposition rate.
