Bone transformation at temperatures above 700°C: complete combustion of the organic collagen fraction, leaving only white hydroxyapatite mineral. Destroys DNA, collagen (precluding isotopic and radiocarbon analysis), and all perimortem trauma signatures except macro-structural fractures.
