Dermestid gnaw marks

Irregular, randomly spaced small pits and channels on bone cortical and cancellous surfaces produced by Dermestidae (dermestid beetle) larvae feeding at Stage 4 to 5. Distinguished from carnivore gnawing by smaller size, shallower depth, and random distribution lacking the bilateral symmetry of carnivore tooth marks.
