Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 May 2026

01.The agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a legal contract between you and ForensicSpot (operated from India by Sourabh Gupta). By creating an account or using any part of the service — the website at forensicspot.com, our APIs, the mobile web experience, the email we send — you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you are using the service on behalf of an organisation (a college, a coaching institute, a study group), you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

Capitalised terms not defined here have the meanings given in our Privacy Policy.

02.Eligibility

To use ForensicSpot you must:

  • Be a student, prospective student, educator, or working professional with a genuine interest in forensic-science study material. There is no minimum age requirement — forensic-science aspirants can be school students preparing for entrance exams, undergraduates, post-graduates, or working professionals.
  • Be capable of forming a binding contract under Indian law. If you are under 18 (a "child" under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), your parent or legal guardian must read these Terms and the Privacy Policy and agree on your behalf before you create an account or make any purchase.
  • Not be prohibited from using the service by any law that applies to you, or by us under the Termination section below.

03.Your account

  • One account per person.Don't share, sell, or transfer your account.
  • Accurate information. Use a real name and a working email — we use the email for receipts, security alerts, and (rarely) urgent service notices.
  • Password security.Pick a strong password; don't reuse it anywhere else. We hash passwords on our side, but if your password leaks elsewhere, the leaker can use it on us too. Enable any 2FA we offer in future.
  • You are responsible for your account. Anything done from your signed-in session is on you, until and unless you tell us your account has been compromised.
  • Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access: hello@forensicspot.com.

04.What ForensicSpot offers

ForensicSpot is a study platform for forensic-science students. The service includes:

  • Free content— practice mocks, study notes, past-year-question (PYQ) papers, a Q&A community, university pages. Available to everyone, even without an account.
  • Free credits (Trace): five premium-mock credits, claimable in one click. The free pack is a one-time grant per account and does not expire.
  • Paid credit packs (Lead, Field Kit, Crime Lab): credits sold for a one-time fee, redeemable on premium mock packs. All credits — free or paid — are lifetimeand stay in your account until you spend them.
  • Analytics dashboards for your study activity (scores, weakness map, streaks).

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will announce material removals in advance whenever practical.

05.Content you post

When you upload notes, ask or answer questions, write a profile bio, or otherwise put content into the service:

  • You keep ownership. Your content remains yours.
  • You give us a licence to host it. Specifically, a worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to store, display, reformat, and distribute your content for the purpose of running ForensicSpot. This licence ends when you delete the content (subject to a short propagation delay for caches / backups).
  • You confirm you have the right to post it.You either created the content yourself, or you have permission from the rights-holder. Don't upload copyrighted PDFs you don't have rights to redistribute.
  • We may take it down. If your content violates these Terms or applicable law, or if we receive a credible takedown notice, we may remove it without prior notice. We will tell you what was removed and why.

06.Acceptable use

When using ForensicSpot, you agree not to:

  • Break, probe, or interfere with the service — no DoS attacks, no port scans, no unauthorised access attempts. (For good-faith security research, see our Security page.)
  • Bypass paywalls, rate limits, or our access controls — including scripting account creation to multiply free-credit claims, or sharing premium-mock answer keys.
  • Scrape the service at scale or use it to train AI models without our written permission. Studying personally with our content, including with an AI assistant, is fine; bulk-extracting our question bank is not.
  • Post unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or fraud-promoting content; impersonate others; distribute malware.
  • Cheat or facilitate cheating — selling, distributing, or organising the answer keys to mocks, real exams, or coursework.
  • Resell ForensicSpot access (free or paid) to anyone else, or create accounts for the purpose of commercial reselling.

Some of these acts may also be criminal under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (sections 43, 65, 66 and 66D in particular) and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

07.Payments, credits, and refunds

  • Currency. All listed prices are in Indian Rupees (₹). Razorpay handles the actual collection.
  • One credit = one premium mock attempt.Retaking the same mock you've already paid for is always free.
  • Validity. Every credit — free (Trace) or paid (Lead, Field Kit, Crime Lab) — is lifetime. Credits do not expire and remain in your account until you spend them. The free pack is a one-time grant per account.
  • No subscriptions. All paid plans are one-time. We never auto-charge you.
  • Refunds. Refund eligibility and process are documented separately at /refund.
  • Tax.If GST applies to your purchase, it is shown separately on the invoice. We are not currently registered for GST; we'll update this when we are.

08.Intellectual property

Everything on ForensicSpot that we created — the website design, our mock-test questions, our explanations, our notes content, our source citations, the trade marks and logos — is owned by us or licensed to us. You may:

  • Use the service for your personal study.
  • Quote short excerpts (for example, in your own study notes) with attribution to ForensicSpot.
  • Print or save pages for your offline reading.

You may not:

  • Republish our content elsewhere (Telegram channels, YouTube videos, blog posts, study-group docs) without permission.
  • Sell or redistribute our questions, explanations, or notes.
  • Remove or alter copyright notices.
  • Use our name or logos in a way that suggests endorsement we have not given.

If you spot infringement of your work on ForensicSpot, please email hello@forensicspot.com with the URL, the original work, and proof of ownership. We investigate every credible report.

09.Third-party content and links

ForensicSpot may link to external sites (RFCs, NIST publications, court judgments on Indian Kanoon, vendor documentation, official syllabi, and so on) and contains source citations naming third-party publications. Those sites and works are not under our control; we're not responsible for their content. The citations don't imply endorsement of us by the cited author.

10.Service availability

We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The service may be unavailable due to:

  • Planned maintenance (we try to schedule for off-peak hours)
  • Vendor outages (Supabase, Vercel, Razorpay, Resend)
  • Force majeure events

Free credits do not have an availability SLA. Paid credits, when unusable for an extended period due to our service being down, may be extended by an equivalent grace period at our discretion; email us if this happens to you.

11.Suspension and termination

You can close your account anytime from your profile settings, or by emailing hello@forensicspot.com.

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You materially breach these Terms (cheating distribution, account-resale, abuse).
  • Your account is fraudulent or used to perpetrate payment fraud.
  • We're legally required to (court order, regulatory directive).
  • The service shuts down. We will give at least 60 days' notice and refund any unused paid credits in this case.

On termination, your access stops. We delete your data on our normal retention schedule (see Privacy Policy).

12.Disclaimers

ForensicSpot is a study aid. We try hard to keep the content accurate, current, and exam-relevant — every question we publish is reviewed against a primary source. Even so:

  • No exam guarantee. We don't promise that using ForensicSpot will let you pass any specific exam. Your results depend on you.
  • Content is for education, not legal or professional advice. Our cyber-law mocks describe the IT Act, BNSS, and BSA as we understand them — they don't constitute legal advice for your situation.
  • Statutes and case law change. The April-2026 shift from CrPC / IPC / Indian Evidence Act to BNSS / BNS / BSA is reflected in our content; future changes may not be reflected immediately. Always check the current law before relying on anything for a real decision.
  • The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • No university affiliation. ForensicSpot is an independent prep platform built by students. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) or any other university. References to NFSU or any other institution, course, or syllabus on this platform are made solely to describe publicly known material for educational reference (nominative fair use under the Trade Marks Act, 1999). All third-party trademarks, logos, and brand names belong to their respective owners.

13.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, loss of data, or exam-result loss — arising out of or related to your use of the service.
  • Our total liability to you, in aggregate, for all claims under or relating to these Terms in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us during that period and (b) ₹1,000.

Some jurisdictions don't allow some of these limitations. Where that's the case, the relevant limitation applies to you to the maximum extent permitted in your jurisdiction.

14.Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold ForensicSpot, its operator, and any contractors harmless from claims arising out of:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Content you post that infringes third-party rights
  • Your unlawful use of the service

We'll let you know about any such claim and let you control the defence, provided you don't settle it in a way that admits fault on our behalf without our consent.

15.Governing law and disputes

  • Governing law: these Terms are governed by the laws of India. The Information Technology Act, 2000, the Indian Contract Act, 1872, the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 apply where relevant.
  • Jurisdiction: the courts at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to consumer-protection rights you have at your place of residence.
  • Try us first. Before filing a suit, please email hello@forensicspot.com with the dispute. We'll respond within 14 days. Most issues we've seen resolve at this step.

16.Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:

  • The "Last updated" date at the top of the page changes.
  • For material changes, we email registered users at least 14 days before the new Terms take effect, and show an in-app banner during that period.
  • By continuing to use the service after the effective date, you accept the new Terms. If you don't agree, please close your account before that date.

17.Miscellaneous

  • Severability. If any clause of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stay in force.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a clause isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You can't assign these Terms to anyone else without our consent. We may assign them to a corporate successor (e.g. if we incorporate or are acquired).
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Cookies, and any other policy linked from here, are the entire agreement between you and us about the service.
