Common questions
Why can't Identifiler Plus results be uploaded directly to the expanded CODIS core loci?+
CODIS expanded from 13 to 20 core loci in 2017. Identifiler Plus predates that expansion and does not amplify all of the newer core loci, so a lab must run a supplemental kit covering the missing loci before the full profile qualifies for upload.
Is a profile generated with Identifiler Plus still usable in casework today?+
Yes, for comparison purposes and for the loci it does cover. Many legacy profiles and reference databases were built on it, so it remains relevant for matching against older records even though newer kits are now standard for fresh CODIS uploads.
