Saponin treatment

Application of a dilute aqueous saponin solution (a plant-derived surfactant) to a bloodstained document surface to reduce visible haemoglobin staining without significantly migrating water-soluble inks; a conservation-derived technique that must be agreed with the DNA analyst before application.
