Professional registration
Definition
A state-issued licence or registration that permits an engineer to offer engineering services to the public. In the US this is the PE (Professional Engineer) licence; in the UK the CEng (Chartered Engineer) through professional bodies; in Australia, licensed engineer schemes vary by state.
