OSAC stands for the Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science. How is OSAC different from the older SWG bodies?+

The Scientific Working Groups (SWGs) were discipline-specific committees that produced informal guidance documents. OSAC replaced many of them with a more structured process that routes finished standards through official standards-development organizations for formal publication. For example, OSAC's Documents Subcommittee took over the role previously held by SWGDOC in questioned document examination.
