Obligate Myiasis
Definition
Myiasis caused by species whose larvae must develop in living tissue to complete their life cycle. The New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) and Old World screwworm (Chrysomya bezziana) are the key examples; their presence alone indicates active parasitism.
