Mummification

Preservation of the body by desiccation rather than liquefaction, occurring when surface evaporation rate exceeds the rate of putrefaction gas production. Common in arid environments including Rajasthan and Gujarat in India, the Atacama Desert, and Arabian Peninsula sites.
