Mecke Reagent
Definition
Selenious acid (H2SeO3) dissolved in concentrated sulphuric acid. More selective than Marquis for the opioid alkaloid skeleton; morphine and heroin give a blue-green to blue colour, while simple amphetamines give little or no colour.
