Fire tetrahedron

The model of sustained combustion requiring four concurrent elements: fuel, oxidiser, heat, and an uninhibited radical chain reaction. Replacing the older fire triangle by adding the chain-reaction element explains why halon agents extinguish fire without cooling or oxygen removal.
