Equivalence ratio
The ratio of actual fuel-to-air ratio to the stoichiometric fuel-to-air ratio. An equivalence ratio above 1 (fuel-rich) produces CO, soot, and unburned hydrocarbons; below 1 (fuel-lean) produces complete combustion products.
