How does a sealed packet bag differ from the sealed packet itself?+
The sealed packet is the sample wrapped and sealed at the point of collection, while the sealed packet bag is a further outer envelope used to move that already-sealed unit to the laboratory, adding a second tamper-evident layer and the paperwork needed for transport.
Why keep the case label inside the bag rather than only writing on the outside?+
A label attached only to the outer bag can be swapped, damaged, or separated during handling, so keeping a duplicate case identification inside protects against mix-ups if the outer bag is opened, damaged, or its exterior labeling degrades in transit.
What is checked when a sealed packet bag arrives at the laboratory?+
Intake staff verify the seal impression is intact and matches what was recorded at collection, confirm the case label details match the accompanying paperwork, and log the condition of the bag before it is opened, all of which becomes part of the custody record.
