How does sequence-level STR typing differ from conventional CE-based typing?+
Conventional capillary electrophoresis only measures the length of an STR repeat region, while this MPS panel reads the actual DNA sequence, revealing internal sequence variation between alleles of the same length that CE cannot distinguish, which can add discriminating power and resolve some mixture interpretation problems.
