Common questions
What improvement does the third generation offer over earlier IBIS hardware?+
Higher-resolution optical scanning captures finer topographic detail on bullet and case surfaces, which improves the accuracy of the automated ranking that surfaces candidate matches for an examiner to review.
Does TRAX-3D HD replace traditional comparison microscopy?+
No. It narrows a large database down to a short candidate list; the final identification still relies on an examiner's direct microscopic comparison of the physical evidence.
