Agartala, Tripura
The National Forensic Sciences University Tripura Campus was established in Agartala in November 2021 as part of the expansion of NFSU, formerly known as Gujarat Forensic Sciences University — the world’s first university dedicated exclusively to Forensic Science and allied disciplines. Recognized as an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, NFSU focuses on excellence in forensic education, research, training, and innovation. The campus is currently functioning from its transit campus at Radhanagar, Agartala, while a permanent green campus spread across approximately 15 acres is being developed at R.K. Nagar, Tripura.
At present, the campus offers specialized programmes including a two-year postgraduate course in Forensic Science, a five-year integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. in Forensic Science, and a five-year integrated B.Tech.–M.Tech. programme in Computer Science Engineering with specialization in Cyber Security. A Professional Diploma in Crime Scene Management is also planned to be introduced from the 2025–2026 academic session.
The curriculum is designed by experienced academicians, forensic experts, scientists, and industry professionals to provide students with both theoretical understanding and practical exposure. Students have access to modern laboratories, advanced instrumentation facilities, and emerging technologies used in criminal investigation and forensic analysis. The campus also promotes research and innovation through publications, patents, and collaborative projects in forensic and allied sciences.
Apart from academic programmes, the Tripura Campus plans to organize short-term training courses and workshops for police personnel, judiciary officials, bankers, chartered accountants, and government officers from Tripura and neighbouring states. In the coming years, the campus aims to develop into a centre of excellence in areas such as narcotic drug detection, border crime investigation, cyber security, drone forensics, anthropology, and toxicological analysis, contributing significantly to the advancement of forensic science in the northeastern region of India.
