Gujarat University

Gujarat University, established in 1949, is the oldest and one of the largest universities in Gujarat, located in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad.

Why it matters for forensic students: The Department of Biochemistry and Forensic Sciences was established in 2006 in collaboration with the Directorate of Forensic Science, Gandhinagar, and was among the first in western India to offer a dedicated M.Sc. Forensic Science. The department runs the two-year M.Sc. Forensic Science, a five-year integrated M.Sc. in Forensic Science and Forensic Technology, an integrated track in Cyber Security and Forensics, and a Ph.D. added in 2010. Research spans DNA profiling, questioned documents, digital forensics, and toxicology, with ties to government forensic laboratories for casework exposure.
