The Centre of Forensic Science was established in 2014 and has been offering the M.Sc. Forensic Science programme since the academic session 2014–15. The course is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical training in various areas of forensic science through a multidisciplinary approach.

The programme was introduced in collaboration with Truth Labs, India’s first independent ISO-certified forensic science laboratory. Founded by a group of former Directors of Central and State Forensic Science Laboratories, Truth Labs is dedicated to promoting truth and scientific investigation in society through forensic education, research, training, and analytical services across multiple cities in India.

One of the major strengths of the programme is its interdisciplinary learning environment. Students gain academic exposure from experts belonging to diverse fields such as science, medicine, engineering, law, commerce, arts, and social sciences. The curriculum is further strengthened through practical demonstrations and hands-on training in specialized areas including questioned documents, fingerprint analysis, cyber forensics, audio-video forensics, DNA analysis, polygraph examination, crime scene investigation, medico-legal consultancy, and fraud investigation.

The course aims to prepare students for professional careers in forensic science, criminal investigation, and related fields while also encouraging advanced research opportunities leading to Ph.D. programmes. Through quality education and practical skill development, the centre contributes toward building trained forensic professionals committed to creating a safer and crime-free society.
