Key Changes in the Revised UGC-NET Guidelines

1. Evaluation of Questions Marked for Review

Under the revised instructions, a question marked for review will still be evaluated if the candidate has saved an answer. Unanswered or unattempted questions will not be evaluated, even if they are marked for review.

Candidates should carefully check that their selected answers have been saved before submitting the examination.

2. Revised Examination City Preferences

Candidates are generally required to select examination cities based on their permanent or present address. If fewer than four examination cities are available in the relevant state or Union Territory, candidates may choose from the available options. Eligible candidates may also revise their preferences during the application correction window, as permitted by NTA.

3. Examination Centre Entry Rules

The updated bulletin explicitly states that examination centre gates will close 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination. Candidates should plan their travel accordingly and follow the reporting instructions on their admit cards.

4. Updated Footwear Guidelines

The revised guidelines permit normal shoes, slippers and sandals with low heels. Long boots are not permitted. Candidates should review the complete dress-code instructions in the updated bulletin before arriving at their examination centre.

5. Changes to the Own-Scribe Undertaking

The annexure reference for the undertaking applicable to candidates using their own scribe has been changed from Annexure IX to Annexure VII in the updated bulletin. Eligible candidates should consult the revised document for the applicable requirements.
