TRM Labs Launches AI Platform to Accelerate Criminal Investigations

Blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs has launched Ardence, an artificial intelligence platform designed to help investigative teams gather intelligence, analyse complex networks and develop findings that can be independently reviewed.
Announced on October 13, the platform is aimed at government investigators, cyber threat analysts and compliance teams working on cases involving fraud, cybercrime, child exploitation and terrorism financing.
According to TRM Labs, Ardence connects information from multiple intelligence providers, including sources covering cyber activity, identity, corporate records, financial data and dark-web activity. The system applies investigative methods to help analysts pursue leads and identify relationships that might otherwise require substantial manual work.
A key feature is the ability to link findings to their supporting source material. TRM says this allows investigators and reviewers to retrace how a result was developed instead of relying solely on an AI-generated conclusion.
The company also says investigation records can support follow-up actions such as drafting legal requests, preparing asset-freeze requests and coordinating infrastructure takedowns. Any such action remains subject to the investigator’s authority and the relevant organisation’s procedures.
The launch reflects a growing effort to use AI to manage the volume of information generated during complex investigations. However, AI-assisted findings still require human assessment and corroboration before they are relied upon in a case.
For digital-forensics teams, source traceability and the ability to reproduce analytical steps are particularly important when AI tools contribute to investigative decisions.
