Delhi Police Busts Cyber Fraud Network Linked to Cambodia

Delhi Police have arrested 11 people in an alleged international cyber-fraud network linked to handlers in Cambodia and other Southeast Asian countries. Investigators say the syndicate was connected to digital-arrest scams and investment fraud involving complaints worth approximately ₹73 crore.
The investigation uncovered 78 complaints registered on India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). Police also helped secure ₹7.25 crore from a separate digital-arrest fraud case involving a 79-year-old victim and placed holds on ₹1.96 crore in bank accounts linked to ongoing investigations.
A forensic examination of six seized mobile phones reportedly uncovered Telegram and WhatsApp conversations, cryptocurrency transaction records and a suspicious application called “SMS Tools.” Investigators suspect the application was configured to automatically forward SMS messages, potentially including one-time passwords (OTPs), to other individuals.
Police also identified seven Telegram channels allegedly used to facilitate the buying and selling of bank accounts used in cybercrime operations. Investigators are now tracing the money trail, examining the suspects’ digital communications and working to identify additional members of the network.
The case highlights the role of mobile forensics, cryptocurrency tracing and digital evidence analysis in investigating cross-border cybercrime.
