Type II restriction endonuclease

A bacterial enzyme that cleaves double-stranded DNA at a specific palindromic recognition sequence, generating fragments whose ends reflect the exact geometry of the cut site (sticky or blunt). The class most useful in molecular biology and forensic applications.
