Positive predictive value (PPV)

The probability that a person who tests positive on a risk instrument will actually reoffend. PPV depends on both the instrument's sensitivity and specificity and the base rate of reoffending in the population assessed. A key target of sophisticated Daubert cross-examination of actuarial risk testimony.
