Pseudopathology

Postmortem modification of bone by a specific agent (rodents, carnivores, plant roots, mechanical forces) that superficially resembles a disease process or antemortem injury. Includes rodent gnawing, root etching, carnivore tooth pits, insect modification, postmortem dry fractures, and soil compression. Distinguished from pathology by the absence of any healing response.
